Playing Spider-Punk in SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE, according to Daniel Kaluuya, is "Cool as F**k"

Daniel Kaluuya|Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse|Black Panther|Miles Morales|Marvel Cinematic Universe: I adore that Spider-Punk will appear on a major motion picture in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. I was initially drawn to the character when he was first introduced in this punk-style, and now we'll get to see him in action on the big screen!

The part of Spider-Punk, also known as Hobie Brown, a British, plaid-clad, mohawked version from Camden, which is also where the actor is from, was given to Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Black Panther, Nope)! He is thus perfect! In a recent interview with Empire, Kaluuya discussed getting the part and remarked, "I was gassed. I added, "Thank you for letting me be a part of it because this is cool as f**k," turning to face Lord, Miller, and Kemp. In the Spider-Verse, I have a voice role as a villain who resembles me in every way. Let's go! You walk to your family's younger members and flex, saying, "I'm getting on, but don't forget!"

Since the actor and the Spidey character are both from the same city, you can imagine that this was a fun opportunity for him to channel himself into a Spidey character. He continued, saying:

"I was born and raised in Camden, and this character is from Camden, which is strongly linked to the punk scene. Therefore, I believe they wanted to take advantage of what they could have for free with me. I said, "Like me!" when they inquired, "What do they speak like?" I believe it lends it that genuineness, much like when I say, "Man like Pav! Big steppa! [Indian Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar]!" I experienced a lot of respect.

It's wonderful to hear that he had a nice experience working on this film. I'm interested to see what he will bring to the role. The movie's Spider-Punk undoubtedly looks great!

Written and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse tells the tale of Miles Morales, Brooklyn's friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, who is "plunged into the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folks to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered."

After seeing Gwen Stacy again, "Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is flung across the Multiverse, where he meets a crew of Spider-People tasked with guarding its very existence. Miles must rethink what it means to be a hero in order to save the ones he cares about most when the heroes disagree over how to deal with a new threat. As a result, Miles is pitted against the other Spiders.

The movie's current release date is June 2, 2023, and Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, the third installment, is slated for March 29, 2024.
