What Drives Kelly Clarkson to Move Her Talk Show to New York City

All in the spirit of family, Kelly Clarkson is bringing her chat show to New York City.

The move of The Kelly Clarkson Show from its longtime location in Los Angeles to Manhattan was originally revealed in early May, and now the pop diva and presenter of a daytime talk show is giving her explanation.

Clarkson revealed in a recent interview with TalkShopLive that she first informed her workers of the relocation in January.

'Guys, I need you to know what's occurring,' I said as I spoke to them. Either I can't finish the programme or I have to fly to the East Coast,'" Clarkson could recall.

The singer said she came to the realisation that "being isolated and so far from your family... that's not good for anyone" during the coronavirus outbreak.

"My family is from the East Coast, and they live in North Carolina. There were "a lot of personal things going on, too," she continued, "so it was one of those things where I just had to."

According to Clarkson, moving was crucial for her and her family since they "really needed a fresh start." She commended NBC for backing the choice and recalled asking the network executives if they thought they could maybe hold the event in New York City since they knew they couldn't do it from her ranch. At least, it's nearer to my family. That was the primary factor, in fact.

According to a representative for NBCUniversal, The Kelly Clarkson Show will move this fall and establish itself at the NBC Studios in Manhattan's 30 Rockefeller Centre. With a live studio audience, Studio 6A will be used to record Clarkson's show.

Since its premiere in 2019, the daytime chat show has been broadcast from the Universal City complex in Los Angeles.

For Clarkson and the syndicated chat show, which was renewed through 2025 in November, the announcement represents a significant development. The Kelly Clarkson Show, which is currently in its fourth season, started its previous two seasons with unique, one-week absences from New York City.

Days after the announcement of the cross-country shift, a Rolling Stone exposé was published in which 11 current and former employees of The Kelly Clarkson Show alleged that the programme is "a toxic work environment."

Soon after the article's release, Clarkson responded to the claims on Instagram.

In her essay, she said, "I've always led with my heart and what I believed to be right in my 20 years in the entertainment industry." "I love my colleagues at The Kelly Clarkson Show, and it's intolerable to learn that anyone feels ignored or insulted on my programme. I've always been committed to fostering a secure and healthy atmosphere at The Kelly Clarkson Show, and I still am. As we get ready to relocate to the east coast, I am more determined than ever to make sure that both our moving team and our new staff in New York are made up of the best and nicest people in the industry.

All of the top personnel, including myself, will receive leadership training as part of that build, she added. "There is always room to grow and ensure we are all being/becoming the best versions of ourselves in any business, especially when it comes to leadership, to ensure that any notion of toxicity is eradicated."

Despite allegations in the exposé that the staff members were overworked and underpaid and that these factors contributed to their poor mental health, Clarkson herself was praised as "fantastic."

One former employee told the newspaper that Kelly "has no idea how unhappy her staff is," and another described The Voice coach as "a person who never treats anyone with anything but dignity and is incredibly appreciative."

The second ex-worker remarked, "I'd be stunned if she knew. If she knew the crew wasn't getting paid for two weeks of Christmas vacation, I'd be shocked. If she learned that, Kelly—the Kelly I interacted with and the Kelly everyone knows—would likely be horrified.

According to a source who spoke to the media, Clarkson "was completely shielded by the executive producers from everything" that happened on her show.
