After 11 years of marriage, Shannen Doherty files for divorce from Kurt Iswarienko

After 11 years of marriage, Shannen Doherty and Kurt Iswarienko have decided to dissolve their union. The actress filed for divorce from her husband on Friday, according to the media.

In a statement to the media on Friday evening, Doherty's representative, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the information and said, "Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted."

Unfortunately, the statement said, "she felt she had no other choice."

After getting married in October 2011, the couple reportedly initially split in January, according to the divorce file, which was obtained by TMZ, who broke the news.

Doherty is also asking for spousal support. According to TMZ, the couple lacked a prenuptial agreement.

Doherty has been by Iswarienko's side during her public battle with breast cancer, for which she received many rounds of chemotherapy and treatment after receiving her initial diagnosis in February 2015.

She entered remission in 2016, but revealed in 2020 that her cancer had come back as Stage 4 breast cancer. Since then, she has been transparent about her struggle with the disease.

Doherty sent a moving letter to Instagram hours before the news of her divorce filing surfaced. It simply said, "The only people who deserve to be in your life are the ones who treat you with love, kindness and total respect."
