In New York, Jessica Chastain sparkles in a Zuhair Murad gown

This week, American actress Jessica Chastain attended the 48th Chaplin Award Gala in New York City, which was organised by the Film at Lincoln Centre, dressed in a glamorous gown by Zuhair Murad, a star-approved designer from Lebanon.

The "Good Nurse" star wore a plunging black sequined gown with sparkling embellishments. The eye-catching dress is from the designer's couture collection for Fall/Winter 2022.

In attendance for the ceremony honouring American actress and producer Viola Davis were Chastain and Meryl Streep.

Davis, who starred with Chastain in "The Help" and Meryl Streep in "Doubt," attended the occasion in a black strapless dress by New York-based designer Jason Wu with gold fringe details on the side.

Streep also went for black, donning a pantsuit and a pair of black cat-eye specs.

Charlie Chaplin was honoured at the inaugural Film at Lincoln Centre Annual Gala in 1972. He came back to the US from exile to accept the award. Since then, Chaplin's name has been added to the award.

Earlier recipients of the Chaplin Award include Cate Blanchett in 2022, Spike Lee in 2021, Helen Mirren in 2018, Robert De Niro in 2017, and Morgan Freeman in 2016.

This is not the first time Chastain has supported Murad, though.

The actress attended the 13th Annual Governors Awards in November wearing a crimson off-the-shoulder embroidered gown from the designer's Spring/Summer 2020 collection.

She posted a little video of herself wearing the dress at the time to Instagram with the caption: "I've had my eye on this @zuhairmuradofficial for quite some time. I appreciate you allowing me to wear this lovely item.

Not just Chastain has praised Murad; other actresses have as well. Jennifer Lopez, a famous American, once declared: "I love Zuhair, he's definitely my favourite.

She wore his outfit to the Met Ball, and after that, "I just started using him for everything — he designed my last tour — we just have a great relationship," she revealed in a 2019 interview with businessman Rabih Mockbel while on her It's My Party World Tour.
