Juror No. 2, starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette, will be directed by Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood | Nicholas Hoult | Toni Collette | Warner Bros. | Unforgiven | Juror #2: The 92-year-old Clint Eastwood has chosen his upcoming project. In the legal drama "Juror No. 2," Nicholas Hoult ("Renfield") and Toni Collette ("Mafia Mamma") play the prosecutor leading the murder trial and a juror who starts to wonder if he might have contributed to the victim's death.

According to reports, Eastwood discovered Jonathan Abrams' original screenplay and believed it was deserving of being his upcoming project as a director. Along with Matt Skiena, Adam Goodman, Tim Moore, and Jessica Meier, the Oscar-winning filmmaker of "Play Misty for Me," "Unforgiven," "Mystic River," and "American Sniper," among many others, will produce the movie. Executive producers will be Jeremy Bell and Ellen Goldsmith-Vien.

Despite rumours that David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, had severed ties with the longtime WB icon over whether or not he would have approved Clint Eastwood's commercially unsuccessful 'Cry Macho', the new film is indeed headed to Warner Bros. Discovery, where it will likely receive a traditional theatrical release. Since complaining or inside baseball talk can occasionally be just that.

Or maybe Zaslav knew it was a wise long-term investment to keep Eastwood in-house whether or not this movie becomes a success after seeing Chris Nolan leave for Donna Langley's Universal and amid a new studio arms race for prestigious talent that saw, for example, Universal and Warner Bros. trading James Wan for M. Night Shyamalan (presumably on a bridge in the dead of night).

The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline broke the news first.
