Ravi, a K-pop star accused of avoiding military service, reportedly quits the VIXX band and is facing a 2-year sentence in prison

VIXX Ravi K-pop | Jellyfish Entertainment | Military service: Ravi, a South Korean rapper and songwriter, reportedly quit the K-pop group VIXX following accusations that he tried to escape serving in the military by submitting phoney medical records. On January 12, Ravi was arrested by South Korea's investigation agency for avoiding military service by submitting phoney medical records.

The K-pop star faces a two-year prison sentence, according to the prosecution.

According to a report by K-pop news website Soompi, the 30-year-old artist's resignation has been revealed by VIXX's management company, Jellyfish Entertainment.

"We deeply appreciate the fans who support VIXX, and we tell you of member Ravi's departure from VIXX," Jellyfish said in the statement," as per the Soompi article.

It was determined that Ravi will depart the team as of today after extensive discussion between him and the agency, the business said.

We genuinely regret upsetting the VIXX supporters, the statement continued.

All men under the age of 30 in South Korea are required to serve in the military for a period of two years.

According to reports, Ravi has been charged with engaging a military broker who allegedly assisted him in faking epilepsy symptoms during a military examination in order to serve as a social service agent rather than a soldier.

Ravi also apoligised for hurting the sentiments. "At the time, I was the only artist bringing in revenue (for the label), and we were in danger of having to pay big costs for violating contracts owing to COVID-19. I sincerely regret any harm I may have caused to those devotedly serving in the military, epileptic patients, and their families " he said.

The K-pop artist will currently be sentenced at a later date by the court. Jellyfish Entertainment has since announced that Ravi will no longer be a part of VIXX, though the decision will be made public soon.
