Ed Sheeran Stadium Shows Set to Thrill Fans Amid Air Quality Emergency: Unforgettable Performances Await

Ed Sheeran • MetLife Stadium • New York:
Despite the recent air pollution emergency that turned the East Coast skies bright red, Ed Sheeran will be performing at MetLife Stadium.

MetLife Stadium announced Thursday that the Brit singer-songwriter's two performances on June 10 and 11 will go on as scheduled.

"The concerts will continue as scheduled this weekend," The stadium said in an advisory." We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed."

A low-pressure system causing southerly winds to push smoke from the Quebec forest fires down into New Jersey and much of the Northeast was forecast to move in Saturday, said John Christanello, chief meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Brookhaven, New York.

Air quality in the state, which reached dangerous levels on Wednesday due to unprecedented amounts of smoke pouring from forest fires, began improving late Thursday morning. However, pollution levels were still very high at noon Thursday, and the state was under a Red Alert.

Sheeran's performance is part of the North American leg of the "+ - = ÷ x Tour," aka "The Mathematics Tour," with Khalid and Dylan also performing in-the-round. Sheeran's set lasts about two hours and 15 minutes, and he usually appears around 8 p.m.

Sheeran will be performing indoors in smaller theaters as part of his national tour." He shared on social media on June 1, "I'll be playing in the theater all summer long, the day before I do the big stadium shows." I love the contrast of playing intimate venues and then playing in front of a big crowd the next day, variety is the spice of life. See you in a city near you this summer."

Tickets for both shows start at $75 before fees and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
