Having joined the syndicated show in 1981 and also hosting a daytime version in the '80s, Sajak has enjoyed a successful career, earning several awards and becoming the longest-running game show host after surpassing Bob Barker. Sony Pictures Television's executive vice president of game shows, Suzanne Prete, acknowledged Sajak's contributions and announced that he would continue as a consultant for three years following his last year hosting. While Sajak had previously hinted at his eventual departure, both he and co-host Vanna White had extended their contracts through 2024.
