EastEnders Star Ricky Champ Shares Insight on Returning to Albert Square and Exciting West End Role in "2:22 Ghost Story"

Ricky Champ, known for his role as Stuart Highway in EastEnders, has opened up about the possibility of returning to the iconic soap opera in the future. Currently captivating audiences in the West End play "2:22 Ghost Story," Champ revealed his character's presumed whereabouts and his response to the prospect of reprising his role in Walford.

"He didn't die. He rode off into the sunset. I think he's somewhere in the North Circular living with Rainie," Champ exclusively told media, teasing the mysterious fate of Stuart Highway. He added slyly, "You never know," when asked if he planned on making a comeback.

Reflecting on his time on EastEnders, Champ acknowledged the transformative journey his character underwent, transitioning from villain to hero and eventually becoming a father. "In EastEnders, I went from villain to hero to dad," he shared. "It was amazing, doing that for five years with a character's arc. It felt weird leaving him."

Champ bid farewell to the BBC soap in August of last year, bidding a heartfelt goodbye to Stuart Highway in an Instagram post, describing his time on the show as a "crazy, amazing journey."

Currently, the talented actor is captivating audiences in the Danny Robbin written thriller "2:22 Ghost Story" in London's West End. Starring alongside Sophia Bush from One Tree Hill, Jaime Winstone from Count Abdulla, and Clifford Samuel from McMafia, Champ plays the role of Ben, the new partner of Lauren (Bush). The play revolves around a dinner party where guests, including Ben, stay up until 2:22am to unravel the mystery of a haunted house.

Many of Champ's EastEnders co-stars have committed to seeing the play, and he expressed gratitude for the support he has gotten from both fans and colleagues. He also shared a conversation with former EastEnders co-star Jake Wood, who had previously played Ben in a different production of "2:22." Wood encouraged Champ to seize the opportunity, describing it as a "gift."

With his intriguing character trajectory in EastEnders and his captivating performance in "2:22 Ghost Story," Ricky Champ continues to leave his mark on both the small screen and the stage. Fans eagerly await news of his potential return to Albert Square and look forward to his future projects.
