Ed Sheeran Concert in Pittsburgh: A Night of Music, Excitement, and Unexpected Hospitalizations

Seventeen concert-goers required hospitalization on Saturday during Ed Sheeran's performance in Pittsburgh.

According to Cara Cruz, the Public Safety information officer for Pittsburgh, the city's EMS personnel received 37 service calls during the Ed Sheeran concert. Out of those calls, 17 individuals were transported to the hospital. The majority of the hospitalizations were due to heat-related issues, falls, one seizure, and two cases of cardiac arrest.

The cardiac arrest incidents involved a worker involved in the stage dismantling process inside the stadium and a paramedic from an external agency who was leaving Acrisure Stadium.

Representatives for Ed Sheeran have been contacted by the media for comment on the incidents.

Weather reports indicated that temperatures in Pittsburgh reached a high of 72 degrees during the day and a low of 62 degrees. The humidity level rose to 92% by the end of the night.

It is important to note that Acrisure Stadium is an open-air venue.

During the concert, Ed Sheeran delivered an exceptional performance to his largest Pittsburgh audience to date. Approximately 51,000 fans gathered around the stage, which featured a rotating platform that spun him in a clockwise motion. This unique setup added to the excitement of the evening.

For the first time, Sheeran is touring with a full band, enhancing the musical experience. The inclusion of electric guitar and drums brought a new level of energy to the opening songs "Tides" and "Blow."

Named the Mathematics Tour, in reference to his albums "+," "-", "x," and "÷," the stage design featured a large main video screen along with four secondary screens shaped like guitar picks. These screens provided close-up views of Sheeran and featured visuals that complemented the music, including shots of Sheeran wearing a black T-shirt bearing the word "Pittsburgh."

Sheeran expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic crowd by sharing a video from the concert on Instagram. Accompanied by his song "Afire Love," the video showcased interviews with excited fans as they made their way to the show.

In his Instagram post, Sheeran reflected on the memorable night, describing it as his biggest show in Pittsburgh. He expressed his enjoyment of the audience's dancing, emotional moments, and even mentioned the presence of the famous "terrible towel," a symbol associated with Pittsburgh sports teams.
