First Glimpse of Deadpool 3: Hugh Jackman Unveils Wolverine's Iconic Yellow-Blue Costume and Joins Forces with Ryan Reynolds

Hugh Jackman assured fans that his reprisal as Wolverine in the highly anticipated "Deadpool 3" would not interfere with the legacy of "Logan," the 2017 blockbuster that concluded the superhero's cinematic journey by giving him a heroic send-off. It seems Jackman wasn't exaggerating, as a recent sneak peek shared on the Instagram accounts of both Jackman and his co-star Ryan Reynolds showcases Wolverine donning his iconic yellow-and-blue costume from the original comic books. This iteration of Wolverine has never before been seen on the silver screen, setting it apart from Jackman's portrayal of the character.

Currently in production, "Deadpool 3" is being directed by Shawn Levy, who previously worked with Reynolds on "Free Guy" and the Netflix blockbuster "The Adam Project." While the plot of the film remains shrouded in secrecy, it's evident that it will delve into the multiverse, marking Deadpool's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a series of solo films produced by Fox.

Joining Jackman and Reynolds in "Deadpool 3" are familiar faces like Morena Baccarin and Brianna Hildebrand, alongside newcomers Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen. Additionally, Jennifer Garner has been confirmed to reprise her role as Elektra, having previously portrayed the character in Ben Affleck's 2003 film "Daredevil" and her own spinoff movie in 2005 after a nearly two-decade hiatus.

Last year, Shawn Levy emphasized the importance of maintaining the franchise's R-rated edge when he signed on to direct the movie. In other words, just because "Deadpool 3" is now a Disney film, it doesn't mean the irreverent humor and profanity will be toned down. The film's writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, echoed this sentiment, assuring fans that Disney would not compromise the franchise's R-rated identity.

"They are going to let Deadpool be Deadpool, you know?" the duo shared with The Playlist. "While it's possible that there may be a joke or two they consider 'too far,' thus far, it's been nothing but support."

"They've been incredibly supportive, asking us, 'How can we assist you?' They've been open to using elements from our universe. They want to make things as easy as possible for us. So we are going to let Deadpool be Deadpool. This won't be a watered-down, Disney-fied Deadpool," Reese elaborated, highlighting Marvel's positive stance on the future of the franchise. "Their enthusiasm has been fantastic, and now it's our responsibility to meet their expectations."

Mark your calendars, as "Deadpool 3" is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
