King Charles' Coronation: Prince William role Revealed

King Charles' Coronation: Prince William role Revealed
It has been revealed that Prince William would play a crucial part in the coronation of his father, King Charles III.

The Liturgy of the Coronation Service states that the Prince of Wales will swear allegiance to the king on May 6 during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey. After being formally crowned, the heir to the throne, William, 40, would kneel before his father, lay his hands between the king's, and say the words known as the Homage of Royal Blood.

"As your obedient man of life and limb, I, William, Prince of Wales, swear my fealty to you and shall uphold your faith and the truth. God please assist me.

The only member of the royal family to pay tribute to the king in this manner is William. There was no mention of Prince Harry's part.

The latest coronation in which the lines were spoken was that of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. When she made the promise, her husband, Prince Philip, promised to be her "liege man of life and limb."

William will also be present to help the bishops and baroness Merron lay the robe on the monarch.

Prince George, the oldest son of William and Kate Middleton, also has a part to play in the day. The 9-year-old's participation in the service as one of the king's pages of honour is a first in modern history for a royal who will one day reign.

The youngest future king to participate in the ritual is George, who is second in line for the throne.

We're all very excited about Prince George's role in the Coronation, a Kensington Palace official informed the reporters. It will be a very special occasion.

As pages of honour, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay, and Master Ralph Tollemache stand by George on the king's side. The Grandsons of Her Majesty, Master Gus, Master Louis, Master Freddy Parker Bowles, and Her Majesty's Great-Nephew, Master Arthur Elliot, will serve as the Queen Consort's honorary pages.

The pages will accompany the king and queen during the entire service, and they will participate in the procession through Westminster Abbey's Nave.
