Rapper Coolio of "Gangsta's Paradise" passed away as a result of fentanyl
Coolio Fentanyl | Gangsta's Paradise | Drug overdose: Rapper Coolio of "Gangsta's Paradise" died accidentally last year from the combined effects of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The county office also listed cardiomyopathy as a "significant condition," a condition that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the body. Investigators also found that Coolio's acute asthma and smoking contributed to his demise.

Jarez Posey, Coolio's longtime manager, added the cause of death on Thursday.

Born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. on August 1, 1963, Coolio passed away on September 28, 2022, in a friend's house in Los Angeles. He was 59.

For "Gangsta's Paradise," the 1995 hit from the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer movie "Dangerous Minds," which sampled Stevie Wonder's 1976 song "Pastime Paradise," Coolio received a Grammy for best solo rap performance.

After initially relocating to Compton, California, Coolio was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania.

According to him, he began rapping at the age of 15, and by the time he was 18, he knew that was what he wanted to do with his life. Before committing himself fully to the hip-hop culture, Coolio attended a community college.

According to Luminate, his lifetime album sales came to 4.8 million, while his tracks have had 978 million on-demand streaming. He received six Grammy nominations.

He occasionally performed as an actor, provided a voice for an animated program, and composed the theme song for a Nickelodeon series. His distinctive persona helped him establish himself as a cultural icon.

Later this year, a studio album that Coolio was working on would be released, according to his estate intentions.
