Charles III | Katy Perry | Lionel Richie | Take That | Andrea Bocelli: On May 7, a performance honouring King Charles III's coronation is expected to feature a who's who of international music.
The British band Take That, singer-songwriter Freya Ridings, and musical icons Lionel Richie and Katy Perry are among the first acts to be confirmed to perform at Windsor Castle.
In a statement on Friday, Richie said, "To share the stage with the other singers at The Coronation Concert is a once-in-a-lifetime event and it will be an honour and a celebration.
The co-writer of the charity record "We Are The World," who was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was previously designated as the first global ambassador for The Prince's Trust, a significant cause for King Charles III, and was consequently hotly anticipated to perform at the crowning festivities.
The opera singers Andrea Bocelli and Bryn Terfel will perform a duet together, while composer Alexis Ffrench will also make an appearance at the crowning ceremony, according to the BBC, which will produce and broadcast the performance.
The concert will be broadcast internationally on the BBC's radio and television stations, as well as in front of the newly-crowned King, the Queen Consort, and a crowd of about 20,000 people.
Additional performers for the star-studded performance will be revealed in the upcoming weeks, after weeks of tabloid print speculation in the U.K. focused on which music stars might appear.
Following a time of mourning for his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III will be formally crowned on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London.
