Matty Healy was captured on camera during the pop star's Nashville performance on May 5, days after the two singers resurrected romance rumours that first surfaced almost ten years ago and more than a month after it was claimed that she had split up with Joe Alywn. The frontman of The 1975, who had performed with his group in the Philippines the day before, observed Taylor's performance at Nissan Stadium from a VIP tent during her most recent stop on her Eras tour.
The band's performance at the O2 Arena in London was months before to the surprise appearance by the "Blank Space" singer, who joined 1975 onstage. She sang duets of "The City" by the British band and her own song, "Anti-Hero," with them there. Backstage, she also got a selfie with Matty Welch's mother, Loose Women co-host Denise Welch, which the television personality posted on Instagram.
Nearly two years before she met Joe, Taylor, 33, and Matty, 34, first ignited relationship rumours in 2014. He denied their romantic involvement in a radio broadcast in 2015, though.
The rumours were "fake," he said at the time, according to Australia's 2DayFM. "We met, swapped numbers in the manner in which many people in this kind of environment do, and occasionally communicated. I'm in Australia and she's the biggest pop star in the world. Nothing is developing in a relationship or otherwise.
The two have stayed close friends for many years and both collaborate with producer Jack Antonoff. He said on the Klein/Ally Show on KROQ in November of last year that Taylor and 1975 had cooperated on songs for her 2022 album Midnights, but that it eventually did not make the cut. He explained, "It was for reasons that are not to be criticised," and concluded, "She's amazing."
Following April news of her recent breakup with Joe after six years of dating him, Taylor's Nashville performance also happened. Taylor attempted to make a clue about the separation days after the news broke by switching the song "Invisible String," which many assume is about the actor, from her tour set list to the song "The 1," which is about a broken heart.
