Before the coronation, King Charles and Camilla pose for a together new portrait
The royal family has unveiled a brand-new image of King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort, about a week before their coronation.

The image, which was captured by Hugo Bernand, shows the pair in the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace. The queen consort is wearing a royal blue dress, and the king is appropriately attired in a navy suit and blue tie.

The statement in the caption is, "As the countdown to the Coronation continues, a new photograph of The King and The Queen Consort has been released."

On May 6, King Charles is formally installed as the head of the Church of England and his title and authority are transferred at a ceremony held at Westminster Abbey. It designates the precise moment when he becomes king. The St. Edward's Crown from the 17th century, which weighs almost 5 pounds and contains a solid gold frame and 444 stones, will be used to crown King Charles.

Camilla Parker Bowles, his wife, will also be crowned as Queen Consort and anointed as Queen. The coronation invitation, which was made public in April and for the first time referred to Camilla as Queen Camilla, made news since she will be the first divorcee to be crowned. She had been referred to as queen consort up until that point.

Despite known family strife, Prince Harry will be present at the coronation without his wife, Meghan Markle. Both the duke's blockbuster memoir, Spare, which was published in January, and Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, which debuted in December, were critical of the royal family and offered personal information from the couple's perspective.

Archie, who will turn 4 on the day of the coronation, and Lilibet, who will be 1 years old, will be staying with Markle at her and Harry's home in Montecito, California. Despite Harry and Meghan's estrangement from the royal family, they are highlighted in the official souvenir programme commemorating the coronation. The programme also features a joyful image of the family celebrating King Charles' 70th birthday, which includes Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

There will be a tonne of special programming and live footage from the coronation event on May 6 starting at 5 a.m., even if the actual anointment during the ritual is not broadcast to the general audience.
