HBO has ordered 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' the next part in the 'Game of Thrones' prequel series

Game of Thrones | A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms | HBO | George R. R. Martin: On Wednesday morning, HBO unveiled a brand-new "Game of Thrones" prequel series called "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" at a Warner Bros. Discovery event. The program, which will be available on HBO's MAX platform, will tell the tale of "Dunk and Egg," a young Targaryen squire and a knight who lived in Westeros about a century before the "Game of Thrones" events.

The new series will be written and executive produced by George R.R. Martin. The books from "A Song of Ice and Fire" are also written by him. Ira Parker, who served as a producer and writer on "House of the Dragon," will be joining him.

Based on Martin's collection of short stories about Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms"'s plot is based on those stories. In the series, a young, naive, but brave knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his small squire, Egg, travel through Westeros at a time when the Targaryen line still occupies the Iron Throne and the memory of the final dragon is still fresh.

"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" will have a lighter tone and portray Westeros in a different light than its predecessor, "House of the Dragon," which was full of bloodbaths and grisly moments. The history of the fight has not yet happened; instead, it is a tale of friendship. Fans of the franchise, who are impatiently awaiting its arrival, will appreciate the series.

Although the premiere date has not been made public, it is anticipated that the show will be just as popular as its predecessor, "Game of Thrones." After Martin revealed that Ser Duncan was Brienne of Tarth's ancestor, fans are eager to see how the prequel will tie into the original series.
