HBO to Air 'It' Prequel Series Madeleine Stowe and Stephen Rider are added to Welcome to Derry

The actors Madeleine Stowe and Stephen Rider have joined the cast of the HBO Max "It" prequel series, now titled "Welcome to Derry." On May 23, HBO Max is expected to formally become Max.

Taylour Paige ("Zola," "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom"), Jovan Adepo ("Babylon," "Watchmen"), Chris Chalk ("Perry Mason," "All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt"), and James Remar ("Oppenheimer," "Megalopolis") have joined the ensemble, according to Variety.

The specifics of the pair's roles as well as the show's narrative are still unknown. While Rider is a series regular, Variety has learned that Stowe will play a recurrent guest role. According to the series' official logline, "Set in Stephen King's "It" universe, "Welcome to Derry" expands on the vision created by director Andy Muschietti in the feature films "It" and "It Chapter Two." In February, HBO Max placed the first order for the series.

The project's co-showrunners and executive producers will be Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane. Through their production firm Double Dream, which has a general agreement with WBTV, Andy and Barbara Muschietti will executive produce. A number of the series' episodes, including the premiere, will be directed by Andy Muschietti. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, and Shelley Meals are also executive producers. Fuchs will write the teleplay for the first episode, which will be based on a tale by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Fuchs.

Fox Rothschild and CESD Talent Agency both represent Rider. Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners are Stowe's representatives.
