Bill Cosby Faces New Lawsuit with Nine Additional Women Alleging Sexual Assault

Bill Cosby is now facing accusations from nine more women in a lawsuit that claims he exploited his "enormous power, fame, and prestige" to victimize them. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Nevada, alleges that these women were individually drugged and assaulted between the years of 1979 and 1992 in various locations such as Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe, including homes, dressing rooms, and hotels.

One of the women claims that Cosby, posing as her acting mentor, enticed her from New York to Nevada, where he drugged her in a hotel room using what he said was non-alcoholic sparkling cider, and then proceeded to rape her.

The 85-year-old former star of The Cosby Show has now been accused of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment by over 60 women. While he has denied all allegations related to sexual crimes, he became the first celebrity to be tried and convicted in the #MeToo era. After spending nearly three years in a state prison near Philadelphia, his conviction was overturned by a higher court in 2021.

Earlier this year, a Los Angeles jury awarded $500,000 to a woman who stated that Cosby sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 16 years old in 1975.

Several women involved in the lawsuit have provided detailed allegations, as reported by CBS Las Vegas affiliate KLAS. The filing of the Nevada suit followed the recent elimination of a two-year deadline for adults to file sexual abuse cases in the state, thanks to a bill signed by Governor Joe Lombardo. Similar "lookback laws" in other states have led to the filing of similar suits.

One of the plaintiffs, Lise-Lotte Lublin, a Nevada native, had actively supported the change in the law. She had previously accused Cosby of drugging her and raping her at a Las Vegas hotel in 1989.

In the latest lawsuit, the women assert that Cosby exploited his power, fame, and claimed interest in their careers to isolate and sexually assault them.

Cosby's publicist, Andrew Wyatt, criticized such laws in a statement, suggesting that the flood of civil suits is driven by the women's desire for media attention and greed. Wyatt announced that they would challenge the women's allegations in the court of public opinion and within the courtroom.

With the ability to now pursue legal action due to the change in the law, Lise-Lotte Lublin expressed her determination to seek justice. She stated that she has fought for survivors of sexual assault and is grateful for the opportunity to fight for herself.

In addition to this new lawsuit, another woman, a former Playboy model, sued Cosby on June 1 in California under a recently enacted law that suspends the statute of limitations on sex abuse claims. Cosby's publicist again criticized these laws, while the women involved in the suit maintain that Cosby used his power, fame, and claimed interest in their careers as a guise to isolate and sexually assault them.
